It has to be very wet to wet when the felt -like haircutable (Trichocolea Tomentella), one of the most beautiful domestic liver moss, is to feel comfortable. And so it is at home wherever rich rainfall goes, which, above all, related to Germany, is the case in the Alps and low mountain ranges. There it can be found on forest floors, on the banks of the water, on durable and earth -crossed rocks and dead wood, preferably near waterfalls. The biologists from the Bryological-Earthological Working Group for Central Europe (Blam) have named the felt-like haircutable moss of 2025.
Velvet pillow in the mountain forest
Where water collects permanently in mountain forests and ditches, the moss covers the floor with a square capmeter large mats, between other mosses such as feather mosses, the lively green -yellow upholstery stand out prominently. You can see the softness as soon as you get closer, almost like palm fronds, the branches stand out from the stems that are winding on the ground, the fine leaves form a real felt, as well as around the trunk, which shimmers in the scattered light. If you look closely, remind the heavily divided and slotted leaves of a green hair dress, where the name is derived from.

Ecological importance and risk factors
Like all mosses, the haircutable chmos also stores water up to twenty times its own weight and continuously releases it back to the ambient air. This has an important function in the climate rice. And that it is hard -working2bind, you can already look at him because of the color.
The hairs, especially in the moderate widths, particularly widespread in the moderate latitudes, is actually not acute in its existence, but drying and increasing temperatures, especially if they go hand in hand with long dry phases, are very important to the moss and often displace the occurrence in the relevant locations. The species is also threatened by the acidification of the soil in spruce monocultures, even from the acid rain of the recent past, the moss is only hesitating. The lowering of the groundwater level does the rest.

Reproduction and inventory risk
The plant is two -sex, male representatives that enable reproduction over sporophytes, but are rare in this country, so that new stocks are difficult to develop from spent fragments. In Germany, Haubelschmoos is at the red list of mosses as endangered in its existence.
